Obedience Over Sacrifice: A Word for Right Now

Sep 1, 2025    Julie Schilling

The Lord reminded me of something powerful while we were just sitting around the table playing Settlers of Catan. It started with a funny moment with my son, Yoel—but it ended in a deep revelation about obedience, God’s voice, and what it means to truly follow Jesus.

The Lord said to me, “Obedience isn’t perfection—it’s purification in action.” That phrase hit my spirit so hard. As I share a personal story about my children, my journey, and what the Lord showed me in Numbers 32, I believe this message is going to challenge you, encourage you, and maybe even convict you.

This is a word for those who feel stuck. A word for those who keep going through the same battles year after year. If you’ve ever settled for “good enough,” I want to encourage you: don’t stop short of the Promised Land.

God desires obedience over sacrifice. And even when we mess up, He sees our heart. Let’s move forward, even if we’re crawling. Let’s trust that God orders the steps of the righteous and that His Word is our greatest weapon.
